Item #LS-TC318: Top quality CNC machined and heat treated track (fixed gear) cog by Soma Fabrications. This cog should be used with a road or mountain chainring and a derailleur type chain. (Road and mountain chainrings and derailleur type chains are designated as 3/32". If you have a 1/8" track chainring, you should use a 1/8" track cog and a 1/8" chain.) This cog can be used on either a track style hub, which has a reverse thread lockring, or on a freewheel style hub. PLEASE NOTE: IF you use this on a FREEWHEEL STYLE hub (which cannot acommodate a reverse thread track lockring) you MUST use a bicycle with hand brakes. The hand brakes must be used to slow the bicycle; if one attempts to slow down the pedals ("backpedaling"), the track cog WILL unthread from the freewheel style hub.
